Shore Leave Part 1

Last weekend Shore Leave happened and they had a great group of people this year so I’m blogging about it in parts. The first part will include random anecdotes followed be each major speaker getting their own entries.

Brony Con was also this weekend which had a bit of the same draw. I told a retailer they wouldn’t sell to many shirts because of that con or “the largest gathering of virgins in North America.” A woman stops and looks at me. I freeze thinking I’m about to get yelled at when she says “Now that was funny!” Then later that day a Dalek tried to exterminate me.

My Friday costume was with two friends of mine was a gender bending Firefly. We were Wash, Simon, and Jayne. We met three teenage girls doing Sam and Dean Winchester and Castiel. I loved it. Another thing I saw was a Trekkie and a BSG soldier and I couldn’t help but think ‘mixed relationship.’

My Saturday costume was the TARDIS (I saw at least two others doing the same costume in different ways). It got a lot of love. I was wearing it when I met Eddie McClintock from Warehouse 13! I definitely fangirled a little bit.

Saturday was mostly spent listening to the big names talk except for the dance party. That was a good bit of fun but I’m around the age when 2:30 AM is no longer a good idea.  Sunday was mellow. I chatted with someone I met at Raven Con and chilled at home. Since most of the con was spent in talks, coming up next are all the notes on the famous people.
