I don’t
mean interactive books you touch or pop up. I mean any book you pick up and
hold. I think ereaders are a good thing. They allow you to take hundreds of
books with you wherever you go and many can be had for free or less than $5 but
nothing will ever beat a physical book.
You can wander
through bookstores (whatever’s left) and pick up any copy that catches your eye.
You can notice something you’d never otherwise pick-up and fall in love. You
can run your fingers across the pages as you read. You can get that new book or
old book smell (it’s a thing, trust me).
I love being
able to walk into my room and see the spines of old favorites looking out at
me. When you finish a book that broke your heart you can clutch it to your
chest as your grieve for characters you’ve come to know and love. You can see
what a stranger is reading and make a connection about that a shared book.
walking into your room seems to be a nice experience...
