Here’s a
quick break down of her books:
sTORI Telling – Her first book, it was the standard celebrity
stories about her childhood, her career, and the tabloid-tastic way she met her
husband. It was a big boost for her career and reality show since it made her
very relatable. You can tell by how she talks about her mother they did not
have much of a relationship at the time.
Mommywood – Here Spelling talks about what it’s like to
be a celebrity mom. This too made her relatable to other moms because she
handles normal things like dealing with a meltdowns or your child favors the
other parent or choosing a preschool. There are also Hollywood problems such as
ditching paparazzi or having a major celebrity’s kid at your preschool.
Uncharted TerriTORI – There’s not much of an
overarching theme to this book. Spelling says it was made for fans but I feel
like it was made for profit and she knew fans would buy it. She talks about
mending fences with her mother and problems in her marriage. Outside of those
things, there’s not much point to it IMHO.
Spelling It Like It Is – Spelling dishes about
the reality behind the reality. What happened after the cameras stopped rolling
including her difficult fourth pregnancy, multiple moves, and marital discord. I was astounded by the number of medical maladies Spelling had in the last few years.
There is
a 5th book called CelebaTori but that’s a party planning book/coffee
table book so I’m not counting it. My overall view of Spelling is that she’s sweet
person, dedicated mother, loyal friend, and loving wife. She regularly calls
Dean her true love and soul mate.
Spelling
is also incredibly naïve about how to handle money. She was in her 30s learning
lessons many of us learned in college. Her world is a messy, chaotic, and interesting place and she definitely had enough material for some of these books.
