Mixing It Up: Break My Heart

Life doesn’t always let you wallow and mourn and be despondent. Sometimes you have to get up and get out in the world but you still want some company with your misery. These are songs about heartbreak that pick up the pace from the last set. Many of these are on my driving playlists.

You Love Me – Kelly Clarkson
Let Me Down – Kelly Clarkson
Letting Go – Jessica Harp
Sleepwalker – Adam Lambert
The Harold Song – Ke$ha
Love Is Dead – Kerli
Wanted You More – Lady Antebellum
Long Way to Happy – P!nk
All I Wanted – Paramore
(One of Those) Crazy Girls – Paramore
Wide Awake – Katy Perry
See Your Around – Runner Runner
You’re Not Sorry – Taylor Swift
Now I’m All Messed Up – Tegan & Sara

Alternates
Rolling in the Deep – ADELE
Set Fire to the Rain – ADELE
All I Ever Wanted – Kelly Clarkson
Screaming Infidelities – Joanna
What Becomes of the Broken Hearted – Jimmy Ruffin
Impossible – Shontelle
The Way I Loved You – Taylor Swift
Haunted – Taylor Swift
How Come You Don’t Want Me – Tegan & Sara

I’m a huge fan of lyrics. No matter how good the music is, if the lyrics are crap, I’ll hate the song. All of the top 15 have excellent lyrics about love leaving. It also gave me perspective during Boy Toy’s long absence. I knew none of these applied to me so it made it a little easier.

I couldn’t leave ADELE or Taylor Swift off this but their songs were so ubiquitous I couldn’t put them with the main set. I couldn’t forget about Screaming Infidelities. Joanna does such a fantastic cover. Tegan & Sara’s latest CD is fantastic but narrowing it down wasn’t easy.
