For Zombies I read FUBAR,
Volume 2: Empire of the Rising Dead, a graphic novel anthology about an
alternate history where zombies are part of WWII. I got it at Baltimore Comic
Con a couple of years ago but didn’t get around to reading it until now.
I loved the variety of
viewpoints from the scientists, to soldiers, to POWs, to kamikaze pilots, to those
succumbing to the virus, to men in love. The writers did an excellent job of
noting the difference between the Japanese and American ideologies at the time
With 27 different visual
stories it’s a small dose book. Each story is short but very powerful. War is
Hell. Zombie as a weapon of war is an even deeper level of Hell. I immensely
enjoyed this and can’t wait to get my hands on volume one which is the same
concept in the European part of the war. According to the website if you order
it from them they’ll give you a custom sketch on the front cover. Maybe I’ll do
that as a treat to myself after being The Boy’s +1 to a wedding.
